We’re all about strong women. As a female-founded company and all-women team, taking time to highlight and honor the innate power of women is personal. This isn’t a trend nor marketing campaign, it’s a sentiment ingrained in our company culture, designs, and customers. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we wanted to take a moment to lift other women up and highlight a handful of amazing female-owned brands. 

 


AMARILO JEWELRY

Co-Founders: Ali Heiss & Stella Simona

Why did you start your brand?
Amarilo was founded in 2012 because we were exhausted by the options in the market for fine jewelry. Our industry, just like many others, was and (still is!) male-dominated and we felt like the designs we wanted to wear weren’t readily available.

What is your brand about?
Making women feel great about themselves.

CORA

Founder: Molly Howard

In a short sentence please let us know why you started your brand?
Cora began as a kernel of an idea when I met a girl in Kenya named Purity who told me she and the other girls in her community missed school during their periods because they couldn’t afford period pads. I decided then and there that I wanted to create a brand that would modernize women’s wellness here in the U.S., while also helping girls and women in need in developing countries so we could all begin to care for our bodies with more health, dignity, and agency.

Today, Cora offers naturally powerful period care, body care, pre and post-natal care, and bladder care products online and at retailers like Target nationwide. With every product purchased, we provide health education and period pads to girls in need in developing countries.

Eluo began with a deep passion for wellness. As I discovered timeless, holistic skincare I fell in love with the art and ritual of masking. It became a refuge, a chance to connect with myself and engage all of my senses in a relaxing skincare treatment. Eluo is an opportunity for me to share this beautiful experience and encourage others to take time for self care

Eluo was born out of the desire to start a new dialogue around beauty. To cleanse is to be mindful, to remain present and to engage all senses. Our collection of exfoliating masks and polishes inspires elevated daily rituals, and the opportunity to show yourself care.

I started Esker because I wanted to fully embrace the concept of self-care in a way that was both completely natural and effective.

Esker wants to change the way people take care of themselves by transforming bodycare routines into rituals. We create tools and formulas derived from essential oils that give you the chance to establish meaningful self-care practices at home.

Why did you start your brand?
Being a part of the fashion industry post-university, I found myself contributing to pollution and sucked into the perpetration of unrealistic body image ideals, which eventually wore onto my own personal self esteem. This darkness gifted me the willpower to find a way to bridge a healthier way of thinking through KYE and redistributing the energy of low self worth into creating intimates that can help bring women closer to themselves.

I grew up in a world where people who looked like me weren’t represented in the media and definitely not in the beauty industry. It’s important to me that this narrative shifts.
