Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My full name is Nyah Andrea Greene. I'm 22 years old. I'm a full time nail artist at nail/ eyelash salon. I'm very into art, reading, film photography, minimalism and jewelry.
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I was born and raised and still reside in San Diego, Ca.
What does a day in the life look like for you Nyah?
I'm a licensed nail technician, so usually my day will consist of about 5-8 clients a day. I do mani’s and pedi’s. However, as I'm sure you know my favorite is the mani’s. Nail art can range from simple lines and negative space to Matisse and Picasso inspired art. I've done some of the craziest nail art, flamingos and faces to food nails with octopus and burgers and pizza! It can get pretty wild sometimes. Haha. Though, this part of the job is pretty fun and I love to see the clients get really excited during the process. Aside from working, usually I like to take walks, watch old shows and films, and make wire jewelry.
What is the inspiration behind your beautiful nail art?
The inspiration behind my nail art is definitely a cross between 18th century art expressionism and 20th century modern art. Some of my favorites you'll see in my work, Henri Matisse, Picasso, and just other artist inspired designs. I'm also inspired by ceramics and interior design.
How did you get into nail art?
Well, members of my family are in the beauty business. My dad actually suggested I try it out. I really wanted to have a career that still allowed me creative freedom and both my mom and dad have encouraged and pushed me to go for what I love to do.
Where can woman find you to book a nail appointment?
Women can find me at hellobirdielab.com to schedule appointments with me. They can also find me on Instagram (@nyahnailartist) and Facebook as Nyah Greene.
How you do get the perfect IG image?
I post art and other elemental shots while still staying true to a light and warm palette. I also love the use of natural light for the majority of my photographs.
Do you practice any other form of art?
I really enjoy creating natural elemental and vintage inspired wire jewelry. I also love drawing and singing.
How did you first hear about Amarilo and what are your favorite pieces from the collection?
I was on instagram one day looking at Stella Simona’s blog when I came across the Amarilo line. I really like the entire line, but some of my favorites had to be the Monroe Baguette Ring, Tag Ring, and the Sophie Ring. I especially like these particular pieces because, they have a slight vintage feel to it while remaining simple and modern.
Is there something you would like to share about yourself that we did not ask?
In the future I'd like to work on taking more artistic photographs of my own and just continue to grow as an inspiring young artist.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Have more fun. Create more and inspire more people, especially youth of my age.
